Released in January 2019, the Sony a6400 (or Sony Alpha 6400) features a 24MP APS-C sensor, a 425 points phase detection autofocus system with Real-Time Tracking, a 2.36M dots electronic viewfinder, and a rear tilting screen.
The camera shoots pictures in JPG and RAW format with an 11 fps burst mode, or 8 fps in silent shutter mode. The videos are shot in 4K at up to 30 fps. There is a single UHS-II compatible SD card slot to store all your data. Connectivity is done via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC. The battery will last for around 410 shots and can be charged in-body via USB. The camera body weighs 403 g with the battery included.
So what do the critics think of the Sony A6400?
Overall most reviews say that the Sony A6400 is a good mirrorless camera for photography. The sensor is very capable and despite some noise at high ISO, the image quality is great. The autofocus is effective and fast, perfect for street photography. The electronic viewfinder is sharp and bright. The burst mode is fast enough for animal or sport photography. There are some issues though for the practice of video making. The lack of microphone input and image stabilization make it difficult to use it for vlogging. In general, the a6400 lacks on-body controls, and the touchscreen is not that handy.
