Here’s a roundup of all the Nikon Z7 II reviews, ratings and impressions from the web. Discover its strengths and weaknesses here!
Released in December 2020, the Nikon Z7 II features a 45.7MP full frame CMOS sensor with dual EXPEED 6 image processors, a 493-point hybrid phase/contrast autofocus, a 5-axis Sensor-shift Image Stabilization, a 3.69M dots electronic viewfinder, and a 3.2″ 2.1M dots tilting touchscreen.
The camera captures photos in RAW and JPG format, with a 10 fps burst with the mechanical shutter. It can record video in 4K at up to 30 fps uncropped, or 60 fps with a 1.08X crop.
It uses a dual memory card slot for the recordings : one for CFexpress (Type B) / XQD cards, one for UHS-II SD cards. The Z7 II embarks a 3.5 mm audio input and output, a mini-HDMI, a GPS function, and can be connected through Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz as well as Bluetooth 4.2. Its battery can last up to 420 shots, and can be charged in-body with a USB-C cable. Altogether, the Nikon Z7 body weighs 705g.
So what do the critics think of the Nikon Z7 II?
Overall most reviews say that the Nikon Z7 II is one of the best full-frame mirrorless cameras on the market. Its sensor is very powerful and offers an exceptional image quality. The stabilization is top-notch, and the autofocus is really precise, with easily accessible modes for eye or animal detection. The handling is intuitive and the camera offers a good grip.
As part of the best cameras available, the Nikon Z7 II is pricey and won’t be accessible to all budgets. For such a high standard camera, the 4K video mode could have delivered more fps, and the battery could be more powerful. The main regret is that the camera doesn’t improve significantly enough over its predecessor.

Websites Reviews
Camerajabber.com – ★★★★½ – ‘The Nikon Z7 II is an excellent camera that produces high-quality images. It also resolves one of the main concerns of the Z7 – its single memory card slot.’
Digitalcameraworld.com – ★★★★½ (Recommended) – ‘The tweaks and refinements to the Z7 II are certainly welcome, but we think Nikon could have done even more. As it stands it feels a little like a stopgap before we see an all-new model. However, the Z7 II still has a lot going for it and at a more affordable price than key rivals, it shouldn’t be ignored.’
Ephotozine.com – ★★★★½ (Highly Recommended) – ‘The Nikon Z7 II may seem like a small update, however, it’s a welcome update that makes an already great camera even better, and the range of Nikon Z lenses available has also improved.’
Amateurphotographer.co.uk – ★★★★½ (Recommended) – ‘ The Z7 II is a minor, but important refresh of one of our favourite high resolution full-frame mirrorless cameras and comes highly recommended.’
Photographyblog.com – ★★★★½ (Highly Recommended) – ‘If you’ve already got a Z7 and are contemplating replacing it with the newer Mark II model, it’s unlikely to be worth it unless you’re hugely desperate for the extra memory card, or you want to shoot in 4K 60p.’
