So what do the critics think of the Nikon Z6 II?
Overall most reviews say that the Nikon Z6 II is a very powerful full-frame mirrorless camera. It has everything needed for serious hobbyists and professionals alike. The camera is very effective, even in low light settings. The autofocus is reliable, as is the in-body stabilization. The decent burst allows for sport photography. The body is strongly built and well weatherproofed.
There is a steep price for these performances though. It is also noted that the Z6 II is not a big step forward compared to its predecessor, the Z6. The touchscreen is also often cited as needing more freedom of rotation.

Camerajabber.com – ★★★★★ – ‘Dual card slots, dual processors, 14fps shooting and eye AF for humans and animals in video mode might not be enough to tempt existing Nikon Z6 users to upgrade but they keep Nikon right in the heart of the mirrorless camera market. There are faster autofocus systems out there with more assured eye detection, but the Z6 II is a great camera and a very good all-rounder. Its solid build and well-thought control arrangement make it a pleasure to use.’
Dpreview.com – 89% (Silver Award) – ‘The Z6 II is a camera that does well at just about everything. It’s comfortable to shoot with and its performance is reliably good. Its AF system is effective, though not at simple to use as its rivals’, and battery life isn’t particularly impressive, but if you’re looking for an enthusiast camera that will do a bit of everything, it’s well worth considering.’
Ephotozine.com – ★★★★½ (Highly recommended) – ‘The Nikon Z6 II may seem like a “minor” update, however, it’s a welcome update that makes an already great camera even better, and the range of lenses available has also improved.’
Photographyblog.com – ★★★★½ (Highly recommended) – ‘Overall however, the Nikon Z6 II, just like its predecessor, is a very capable camera and although this upgrade isn’t perhaps quite as revolutionary as we might have hoped, it still comes highly recommended for most.’
Thephoblographer.com – 4/5 – ‘The Nikon Z6 II is a good camera for the right photographer, but it’s not the best mirrorless out there in a now-crowded market. Because of the autofocus, the Z6 II is satisfactory for portraits, landscapes, travel, and the like — particularly for photographers who are already Nikon fans.’
Techradar.com – ★★★★½ – ‘Nikon has taken one of our favorite mirrorless cameras and addressed its main weaknesses. While it might not be class-leading in key areas, it’s the Z6 II’s strong performance across the board that makes it such a compelling choice.’
