So what do the critics think of the Canon EOS Rebel SL2 / EOS 200D?

Overall most reviews say that the Canon EOS Rebel SL2 / EOS 200D offers an image quality which is up to Canon’s standards, producing no visible noise from ISO 100 all the way up to ISO 1600. The SL2 / EOS 200D’s main competitor is the Nikon D3400, which displays lower noise at fast ISO speeds but being also more imposing.

The new Canon SL2 is bulkier than its older brother, the EOS 100D. Yet, the EOS 200D has a faster shooting speed (5 fps burst shooting) and still remains among the world’s smallest and lightest DSLR camera with a vary-angle screen.

Canon targets avid smartphone photographers willing to upgrade towards their first camera. The more pronounced grip – evolution from the EOS 100D – offers a comfortable support base and the new Feature Assistant displays a friendly-user design which makes this compact perfectly accessible to beginners.

Most reviews like…

  • Compact size
  • Vari-angle LCD touchscreen
  • Excellent Dual Pixel AF system

  • Absence of 4K video
