Pcmag.com4.5/5Excellent – (‘The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 90mm F2 R LM WR delivers fantastic optical performance, a strong build with weather sealing, and a short telephoto reach that is a popular choice for portraiture. There aren’t any major weakenesses here, aside from the lack of tactile feedback when focusing manually.[…] In all, the XF 90mm is a standout lens, and an easy pick for Editors’ Choice.’)

Photographyblog.com★★★★★ Essential (‘Optically it’s an almost perfect lens, only suffering a little wide-open at the edges, and the auto-focusing is very snappy thanks to the new quad linear motor. Even the asking price is very reasonable considering the stellar image and build quality that you get in return.’)

Thephoblographer.com5/5(‘Of all the portrait lenses that we’ve tested for the system, it’s by far the best. Yes, there is an f1.2 lens out there, but it can’t compare to the pure image quality that the 90mm f2 renders in the best of situations. You’ll fall in love all over again with the bokeh, sharpness and consistent performance that gives you very little reason to do any sort of editing to the images right out of the camera.’)

Ephotozine.com✪✪✪✪½ Highly Recommended(‘Although not as popular as it once was, the 135mm field of view is ideal for portraits, thanks to the flattering effect of compressed perspective. This lens lends itself to that kind of photography well ,with very high sharpness levels in the centre, a fast maximum aperture and quick, accurate focusing. Weather sealing will be a bonus for those who like to venture out when it’s inclement too. Overall, this is an excellent lens that should win over many fans amongst Fujifilm X-series camera owners.’)

Trustedreviews.com5/5 – GOLD – (Although the 90mm gives superb results when stopped down, what is more important to most users is its performance at maximum aperture, and Fujifilm has absolutely got it right with this lens. Wide open, the lens is really sharp and free from any worrying optical flaws, while the bokeh and out-of-focus areas are delightful for portraits. The autofocusing isn’t as fast as some of Fuji’s lenses, but it’s a definite improvement over the 56mm and is very quiet and accurate. This is important given the very shallow depth of field when shooting wide open. It’s hard to criticise this lens, but the one thing that goes against it is the lack of versatility of the 90mm focal length. For portraits, especially tight headshots, the Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.6 does a good job, but the 90mm f/2 just does it better. If the focal length works for the type of photography you do, then put simply, this is a must-have lens.’)
