Terms to know:

EF (Electronic Focus): indicates that the lens is equipped with an EF mount compatible with all Canon SLR cameras, both those with an APS-C sensor (such as the Canon EOS 750D) and those with a full-format 24x36mm sensor (such as the Canon 6D). Warning, when you use an EF lens on an APS-C camera, the focal length will be different: you will have to multiply by 1.6 to obtain the equivalent focal length (a 50mm EF lens will be equivalent to 80mm on APS-C).

EF-S (Short Back Focus): Designed exclusively for Canon EOS SLR cameras equipped with an APS-C sensor such as the 750D, EF-S-mount lenses cannot be used on a full-format SLR camera. However, since they are optimized for APS-C sensors, they are generally lighter, more compact and less expensive than those in the EF range.

IS (Image Stabilizer): means that the lens has an integrated optical image stabilizer that corrects unwanted camera shake, so you can get sharp pictures even when you handheld without the need for a tripod.

STM (Stepping Motor): a special motor integrated into the lens, optimized for video and allowing a smooth and silent autofocus.

Canon EF 50 mm f/1.8 STM

best lens Canon EOS T6iWeight: 160 g
Filter size: 49 mm

One of the best sellers on Amazon, this 50mm f/1.8 is a very nice fixed focal length lens compatible with both full-format cameras and APS-C sensor cameras: however the focal length changes and it then becomes an 80mm on a Canon EOS 750D, which is the must for portraits.

Sold at a very affordable price, this is the lens to own if you only had to choose one: its sharpness is really excellent, it has a minimum focusing distance of 35mm and its f/1.8 aperture allows you to obtain a very beautiful bokeh (or background blur) and to take pictures in low light conditions. If you make video, the focus is discreet thanks to STM technology.

In short, if you want a lens that will make you say “woooow” when you look at the images you have taken with your Canon EOS 750D, choose this one.

Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM

what lens for Canon EOS T6iWeight: 125 g
Filter size: 52 mm

An incredibly compact and lightweight lens: only 2 cm thick for 125g! Its focal length allows it to be useful in many situations, whether for reportage or landscape photography. Its minimum focusing distance of 0.16m also allows you to take beautiful close-up shots on objects.

Even if it does not include an image stabilizer, its performance is quite good and for less than 200€ it’s a very good complement to travel light. Its f/2.8 aperture allows you to take pictures in low light conditions as well as have a pretty blurry background, and its STM engine makes it almost silent.

Sigma 17-50 mm f/2.8

which lens for Canon EOS 750DWeight: 570 g
Filter size: 77 mm

The perfect tool if you travel a lot and don’t want to bother with several lenses! It offers much better performance than the 18-55mm sold as a kit, and its very versatile 17-50mm focal length will allow you to do both landscape and portrait work. Its f/2.8 aperture is fixed over the entire focal range, allowing good shots to be taken even in low light conditions. Sigma’s HSM autofocus system is very fast and quiet (no autofocus noise).

Canon also sells a 17-55mm f/2.8 but it costs twice as much and its performance is not necessarily better… Be careful, when you buy the Sigma 17-50mm on Amazon.fr remember to select the Canon frame (Sigma offers the choice between Sony, Nikon… don’t be mistaken!).

Canon EF-S 55-250 mm f/4-5.6 IS STM

what lenses for Canon EOS T6iWeight: 375 g
Filter size: 58 mm

A very good zoom that will be an ideal complement for your basic lens or a fixed focal length: among its advantages, it’s relatively light, compact and allows you to make beautiful images thanks to the integrated optical stabilization that allows you to take pictures by hand without the need for a tripod. The STM system works very well in photos but also in videos. Too bad it’s sold without a lens hood or cover.

Be careful, you will find on Amazon other Canon compatible zooms sold around 99-100€, but they do not have integrated optical stabilization which is essential to take pictures from a distance! This 55-250mm may be a little more expensive (less than 200€) but at least it’s stabilized. If you want to start remote photography, this is the right lens for your Canon EOS 750D.

Canon EF-S 10-18 mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM

what lens should I get for my Canon EOS T6i 750DWeight: 240 g
Filter size: 67 mm

If you’re looking for a wide-angle lens that works with your Canon EOS 750D, look no further! Despite its low price, it allows you to take impressive pictures, its size is very compact and light (only 240g!), and it even has an integrated optical stabilization.

In short, it’s an excellent ultra wide angle lens to add to your collection if you want to take landscape, interior or architectural photos with your Canon 750D.
